24 Hours On Magnetic Island / by Ethan Astall

Last weekend Ash and I had the pleasure of traveling to Magnetic Island to check out Pilgrim Sailing. The owners Paul and Clare are absolute legends and make the day out on the water an amazing experience for everyone.

We hired one of the iconic topless buggies that zoom around the island for $100 for 24 hours. As soon as you plant your bum in the drivers seat you instantly become 150% happier with life.

The decky onboard Pilgrim gave us directions to a little locals only spot for sunset which produced the goods. Our accomodation for the night was at the YHA at horseshoe bay which cost us $80 for a little bunk bed set up. For sunrise we scaled up Forts Walk which gave us an amazing 360 view of the island. The walk is 2.5km up and takes about 40 minutes. The rest of the day before the ferry home we zoomed around getting photos in the buzz box, climbing around some rocks, seeing a bit of wildlife and of course climbing trees.

The entire weekend cost us about $130 each which was fuel to and from Airlie, parking, ferry to Magnetic and back, accom and car hire. Not factoring food and bevs because lets be honest we all like to over indulge if were on a roady or on a holiday. Yew
