If you havent heard of Gladstone for being a tourist hotspot then your absolutely correct there isn’t much going on in the hiking department except for this little leg burner just north of Gladdy called Mt Larcom.
Just across cross the highway in Yarwun was this little skate park and play ground which we spent the afternoon skating about. We camped at the start of the Mt Larcom trail for the night which was just a dusty grass turn around.
The Trail is 6.6km return with 500m in elevation. That 500m of elevation is quick to creep up on you and isn’t gradual at all once you start hooking in. It took us about an hour to get up to the top where we were greeted with some amazing views of the surrounding industrial landscape to the east and forest dotted hills to the west.
